Damijan Stepančič, Slovenia
born in 1969, studied at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and is regarded as one of the most versatile illustrators and comic-strip artists in his country. He has illustrated anthologies by Slovenia’s two most significant children’s poets Tone Pavček und Saša Vegri, but also publishes his own books including “The Story of the Anchor” (Zgodba o sidru) and the successful “Scribble Robbers”. In his books Damijan Stephančič tells stories without words, in which the narrative point of views are contintiously overlapping. In 2008 he was awarded the Best Designed Slovenian Book Award by the Slovenian Book Fair for his illustration of Peter Svetina’s “Anton’s Circus”. His books are mainly published by Miš. Apart from his illustrative activities he participates in illustration workshops for children.
