Piret Raud, Estonia
born in 1971 into a family of artists, she studied graphic art at the Estonian Academy of Arts. In her studies she focused amongst others on copper engraving in Estonia. Since graduation, she has been living and working in Tallinn as an artist, illustrator and writer of children’s books. Piret Raud has illustrated more than 40 books and written ten children’s books. For her literary and illustrative work she has won numerous awards, e. g. the Children’s Literature Award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia (2005, 2008) and the 1st Prize of the Children’s Jury in Latvia in 2012. Her books have been translated into German, English, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, Latvian, Lithuanian, French and turned into a children’s book app. Most of her books are published by Tänapäev and Tiritamm.
