Jan Bajtlik, Poland

JAN BAJTLIK (born in Warsaw / Poland, 1989) is without doubt one of the major talents among the young generation of Polish children’s book illustrators. Having gained his Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Jan Bajtlik is now working on his PhD at the school’s graphic department. He designs children’s books, posters, illustrations and fonts and develops corporate designs. Working with children is important to him, such as running junior typography workshops at international cultural institutions, including the Tate Modern in London and MACBA in Barcelona. He sees the world as a circle, illustrating for Time magazine and the New York Times, among others. Jan Bajtlik has received many national and international awards for his artwork, most recently a gold medal at the Poster Biennale in Ecuador and a silver medal at the International Poster Biennale in Mexico. In 2016 he was a judge for the Book Art Foundation in Leipzig. He was a guest of the kulturkind project in 2015, taking part in the 7th Berlin Book Islands week.
